About Stellarvue

Stellarvue Mission Statement

Stellarvue is dedicated to producing the highest quality telescopes and accessories to enable personal discovery and foster a greater appreciation for nature and the universe.

Those of us who sell telescopes for a living know that far too many of them sit unused in closets because many telescope makers are more interested in profit than encouraging a healthy interest in the mysteries of the universe.

About the Founder

Stellarvue founder Vic Maris began a lifelong interest in astronomy back in the mid 1960's after reading the Golden Book of Astronomy. "My father bought me a 60mm refractor to encourage my interest in science", he wrote, "That telescope almost ended my interest in astronomy altogether!" With its wobbly mount, inferior eyepieces and optics, Vic struggled for several nights, then retired the telescope to the closet. How many department store telescopes sit in closets? Millions. It is all because the makers are more interested in profit than encouraging a healthy interest in the mysteries of the universe.

But Vic was lucky. Several people fostered his interest in astronomy at an early age. "The pursuit of astronomy has gave me some of the most inspirational experiences of my life and I sincerely appreciate all of those people who helped me along the way back then". According to Vic, Stellarvue is a way of returning the favor.

"Over the past quarter of a century, I have enjoyed introducing thousands of people to astronomy and helped many of them get the most out of their equipment. I have found that most telescopes people buy are very poorly made. I know from personal experience how frustrating it is, and this is what inspired me to create Stellarvue. This is a small telescope company dedicated to introducing people to the night sky with high-quality, reasonably priced equipment. This is more a labor of love than a commercial endeavor. Anyone who has been truly inspired by the majesty of the night sky knows what I am talking about".

About Stellarvue Telescopes

Stellarvue telescopes utilize exceptional optics. They maintain the highest quality components and keep prices low. This results in very high performance at reasonable prices. Each telescope carrying the Stellarvue label is personally star tested right here in the USA by the founder Vic Maris. Optical and mechanical parts are warrantied to make sure every customer is 100% satisfied.

On rare occasions, a customer will damage a telescope - drop one on concrete or something. Most of the time the telescope survives as they are built like a tank. Should the telescope need some work, Stellarvue will be there for the customers. Stellarvue repair our telescope whether they are returned during the warranty period or after. Stellarvue is committed to making sure that all of their instruments operate as they should. That's because they really care about customers. Nothing sells more of our telescopes than the telescopes themselves. They are our ambassadors and we want them operating to spec when any of our customers shows them off.
