Vixen is the leading designer and manufacturer of telescopes in Japan, with its origins dating back to 1949. Vixen's products are manufactured with Vixen's proprietary production techniques. As a manufacturer specializing in binoculars and astronomical telescopes Vixen's motto is "offering better quality products at lower prices for more people", as a result Vixen products are ranked very highly and are used by professionals and enthusiasts the world over.
Vixen telescopes and German equatorial mounts have had a limited presence in the US market since the 1980s, but for the most part as a supplement to the product lines of major US brands. Importation of a broader selection of Vixen products did not begin until 2002 when TeleVue became the sole North American distributor of Vixen products. TeleVue relinquished that role after a five year run.
Starting in 2007, MrStarGuy, Inc. assumed North American distribution rights under the name of Vixen Optics and began importing nearly the entire line Vixen products. For the first time in its history, Vixen is being imported by a company whose sole focus the success of the Vixen line here in the US market. As any student of marketing will tell you, distribution is but one piece of the strategic puzzle. If Vixen Optics can combine the other elements of product, pricing, promotion, and positioning in a way that reaches a chord with the US market, then this brand will surely succeed here.
