Meade Series 4000 QX Eyepieces
Meade Series 4000 QX Wide Angle are a new line of inexpensive five element eyepieces. They yield a super wide 70 degree apparent field of view. Although Meade doesn't say it, we suspect that these eyepieces are patterened on the Erfle design. All QX
Wide Angle Eyepieces feature multi-layered
optical coatings to maximize light
transmission, and edge-blackened optics for
superior image contrast.
In our experience these eyepieces
perform best in slower focal ratio telescopes
such as Schmidt-Cassegrains. We do not
recommend these eyepiece for use with faster
focal ratio telescopes, including Dobsonians,
Newtonians, or any other telescope with a
focal ratio of less than f/7.
