Optics Maintenance Products
The best strategy for optics cleaning is the opposite of football; the best offense is a good defense! The first step in optics maintenance is to prevent them from getting dirty in the first place. When that fails, clean carefully and sparingly. The products on this page are mainly intended for cleaning eyepieces and other relatively small optical surfaces.
When it comes to cleaning telescope optics, the brushes contained within a maintenance kit or lens pen are useful for the first step of removing any loose particles. After that we recommend purchasing supplies from a neighborhood drug store. Here in our shop we use sheets of natural cotton, isopropyl or methyl aclchohol, and acetone. Avoid products with artificial fragrances or any type lotion, as are common in rubbing alcohol. Please consult your telescope manual for specific instructions, or give us a call for a consultation.
