Guidescope Rings
Guidescope rings are typically used to mount a small refractor on top of or beside a larger optical tube in a parallel orientation. The small refractor may then be used either as a guiding scope while imaging through the larger optical tube, or as the imaging scope for wide field images. Modern autoguiders are so sensitive that 70 to 80mm guide scopes are more than adequate for most applications.
The guidescope rings offered by ADM and Losmandy are equipped with Delrin tipped centering screws to prevent damage to the finish of the guidescope. These three-point adjusting screws allow you to precisely align the guidescope with your main optical tube. Ring sizes reflect the largest outside diameter optical tube that can be accommodated by that ring. Most rings attach to dovetail systems from ADM Accessories and Losmandy without the use of tools.
