Dovetail Bars

Dovetail bars are used to attach telescope optical tubes to mounts, or to attach accessories, such as camera mounts or guide scope rings, to the top of an optical tube. The most common dovetail bars are the "D" or Losmandy style and the "V" or Vixen style. The mating surfaces of these dovetails bars are approximately 3 inches wide for "D" style and 1.7 inches wide for "V" style.

Skies Unlimited stocks dovetail systems from both ADM and Losmandy. Both of these provide a consistently high quality and their parts are interchangeable within the specific D or V series. ADM offers a smaller format called MDS or Mini Dovetail System that is unique to their brand. MDS presents an interesting alternative for mounting counterweights or light accessories where the overall weight is a factor.
