Telescope Counterweight Systems
Most telescope systems are designed to balance with only minimal accessories attached. Counterweight systems are often needed when heavy accessories are added. Examples of such accessories include binoviewers, cameras and guide scopes.
These counterweight systems are designed with dovetail bars and mounting hardware for specific telescope models. They attach to the optical tube using preexisting accessory mounting holes. A properly balanced telescope places less strain on the drive motors, which may promote both quieter slewing and smoother tracking. If your telescopes sounds different when slewing in one direction vs. the other (i.e up vs. down), then you may need a counterweight system.
