Spotting Scopes
Spotting scopes are small telescopes made for terrestrial viewing. Most spotting scopes are designed to present an image that is both upright and correct in left-right orientation. Many spotting scopes are equipped with zoom eyepieces. The erecting prisms built into correct image spotting scopes typically limit their useful magnification to a maximum of 60-80X. Some of the spotting scopes represented here, notably the Orion Apex line, might better be described as crossovers. These are astronomical telescopes that can also be used as spotters. This type accepts interchangeable eyepieces and can be configured to exceed the 60-80X magnification limitation of their classical spotting scope brethren.
