Telescope and Binocular Mounts and Tripods
Skies Unlimited offers a wide selection of telescope mounts, binocular mounts and tripods. Whether you need a quick grab and go alt-azimuth mount for terrestrial or astronomical viewing, or a German equatorial mount for astrophotography, we have the right mount for you.
German equatorial mounts track an object moving across the sky using constant speed movement on one axis that is oriented parallel to the Earth's axis of rotation. This makes the design ideal for astrophotography
Alazimuth mounts move on the altitude (up-down) and azimuth (left-right) axes, making them useful for both terrestrial and astronomical observing. They are an attractive option for their simplicity of operation and intuitive pointing.
Binocular viewing can be an enjoyable introduction to astronomy, but there is an upper limit to the magnification or the weight of the binoculars that can be effectively hand held. Binocular mounts overcome these limitations.
Counterweights are used to balance the weight of the telescope on a German Equatorial Mount. Counterweight shaft sizes vary; therefore, brands should not be mixed and matched without consulting a qualified dealer.
An equatorial wedge allows fork mounted altazimuth telescopes, including Celestron CPC and Meade LX200, to operate in an equatorial mode for astrophotography.
Tripods for telescopes, binoculars, and spotting scopes. In most cases a separate mount head is required to attache the telescope or binoculars.
Do you wish you had an easy way to move your telescope from the garage to patio or driveway? JMI Wheeley Bars were created for just that purpose. Easily move your telescope from the garage to an observing position without heavy lifting.
Digital setting circles can point you to objects by combining digital encoders that trace the position and motion of a telescope with a computerized map of the sky.
A clock drive allows a basic German equatorial mount without go-to technology to track a celestial target by compensating for the Earth’s rotation.
These miscellaneous telescope mount accessories, including vibrations suppression pads and polar axis scopes, and slow motion control handles make the mount easier and more enjoyable to use.
