JMI Wheeley Bars
Do you wish you had an easy way to move your tripod or pier mounted telescope from garage to patio or driveway? Wheeley Bars were created for just that purpose. The sturdy base with locking wheels and leveling bolts allows you to easily move, lock, level and use the complete telescope assembly. And best of all, you don't have to disconnect and reconnect all the electrical and computer cabling. We use this product ourselves, both at home and in the showroom. What more can we say?
Standard Wheeley Bars are designed to be used on hard flat surfaces only. With the optional large-wheel upgrade, great care in maneuvering and ideal conditions, they can be used on grass, dirt and gravel surfaces. Skies Unlimited recommends the large wheel upgrade as a minimum for all applications. The larger pneumatic wheels are a better choice if you plan to leave a smooth paved surface. Wheeley Bars are generally designed to be used with the tripod legs almost fully retracted to reduce the overall width.
Proper use of wheeley bars: A word of caution
The heavier the telescope mounted on the Wheeley Bars, the more careful one must be in moving the complete system. Keep in mind that the center of gravity will be rather high and that it will be quite easy to topple the telescope over if one is not careful. The best pactice is to push or pull well below the center of gravity. In our own experience we have had a few near accidents when rolling too fast on a hard surface and encountering something as small as an acorn. Neither JMI nor Skies Unlimited may be held responsible for incorrect loading or operation.
