Coronado Solar Filters and Solar Telescopes
Coronado has been developing ultra-narrowband, hydrogen alpha filters and associated technologies for the professional market for over 40 years. Coronado solar filters and solar telescopes allow you to safely observe and photograph the sun. The red light of hydrogen alpha is a very prominent feature in the solar light spectrum since hydrogen makes up 75% by weight of the outer layers of the sun.
About Coronado H-A filters...
The most effective method of viewing the sun is by isolating the Hydrogen Alpha wavelength at 656.3nm and rejecting all other types of light. At this wavelength you are able to view all the features of the chromosphere, which originates just above the photosphere. These features include flares, prominences, filaments, spiculae, faculae, and active regions. As the sun is constantly changing, the view through a Coronado filter is always new and exciting. Whether you watch a sunspot group march across the surface or a prominence explode thousands of miles into space there will always be something unique to view through our filters.
Coronado Solar Telescopes are designed with all optical aberrations and coatings optimized at the Hydrogen-Alpha wavelength. Most telescopes, when used at H-alpha, will not have the image contrast exhibited by a Coronado SolarMax telescope.
Coronado SolarMax series Hydrogen-Alpha solar filters allow safe solar observing with astronomical telescopes. These filters require a separate adapter that is specific to your telescope.
Coronado offers CEMAX eyepieces and other accessories for use with Coronado solar filters and solar telescopes.
