Apogee Alta U Series CCD Cameras

The Alta U Series is Apogee Instruments premium line of CCD cameras. These cameras are commonly used by professional research observatories, but are also available to the amateur astronomer. Alta U Series cameras are available with a wide variety of sensors, including: Back-illuminated sensors with very high quantum efficiency, some with sensitivity in the deep UV; Interline transfer sensors with fast electronic shuttering and inherent anti-blooming; front-illuminated CCDs with high sensitivity in the near-IR without etaloning. In general, the larger the pixel size, the higher the dynamic range. Larger pixels and larger arrays are typically used for astronomy. Available CCD aray sizes range from 512 x 512 pixels up to 39 Megapixels.

The Alta U16M uses a very large format 16-megapixel full frame sensor with microlensing and anti-blooming gates, ideal for applications requiring large field of view. 16 Megapixels in a 4096 x 4096 array of 9 micron square pixels.
